Mr. Invisible Drops The Beats on Birmingham #UPDATE#
Feb 8th
Here’s a few things you need to know about Charlotte, N.C. based group Mr. Invisible
1. They are sponsored by Native Instruments – Peep the following video for some impressive live beat creation using NI’s Machine and showcasing their latest track “Wildchild vs Kill The Messenger” http://youtu.be/OFD0qFqColA
2. Their sound is based firmly in classic hip hop while still bringing a 21st Century vibe to their beats and rhymes.

THEY ARE COMING TO BOTTLETREE THIS FRIDAY NIGHT IN BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA!
Do not miss what will be a great night out for all the b-boys, b-girls, beat creators, movers and shakers.
Oh yeah, speaking of beat creators, check this Dubspot video of Aswell showing you how to lay out a track using nothing but Native Instruments Machine. You will learn a thing or two trust me. I did. Ken_UF
Wicked right? I’ll see all of Birmingham at BottleTree Friday night! Don’t sleep! Ken_UF
##UPDATE## I had a blast at BottleTree last Friday night when Mr. Invisible came to town and brought their brand of progressive old school style hip hop to the Magic City. The guy’s have a great style and got the crowd hype which you will see with the video below. The only thing I found odd was that they started their set with their newest track Wildstyle vs Kill The Messenger. Besides this I have nothing but praise for this show.
Their set comprised mostly of cuts off their “Sight Unseen” CD which I would recommend to any hip hop heads out their. Go get it! After the show I met the guy’s and told them somehow we need to have Mr. Invisible back to Birmingham for a longer performance. Doomtree which Mr. Invisible are on tour with a the moment commanded the night as the headliners and did a great show too. But I came to see Mr. Invisible and would have liked a longer show from them.
Now here comes the video I shot at the show. Good times, good times.
Final word on the night. BottleTree, thank you for bringing Mr. Invisible to town and also for having such a wonderful staff and great food. The Thai Spicy Burger was awesome and the Vegan Chili hit the spot! As for Mr. Invisible, if and when Mr. Invisible comes to your town, do yourself a favor and go see them live. You will have a blast! I did.
Oh and thanks Darrell for the last shot. Hit up Darrel on Twitter.
Hank Shocklee & FaltyDL Droppin’ Knowledge at Dubspot Live Stream Jan. 30 2012
Jan 25th
I grew up on Public Enemy and have all their albums. I even blagged aka conned my way into photographing them during the Public Enemy/Anthrax tour back in the day when they came into Birmingham, AL. (Ask to see my photos of the show sometime!) What got me into them wasn’t the rough politically tinged delivery of the legendary Chuck D or the antics of Flavor Flav; it was the bombastic urgency of the beats that pulled me towards the group.
Hank Shocklee (Public Enemy, Bomb Squad, Def Jam) was the mastermind behind PE’s sounds. He took the sounds of hip hop in a totally new direction that was urgent and of the times. We (as in the internet collective) are lucky enough in this day and age to have him do a live streaming workshop with the soon to be legendary in their own right Dubspot.com Monday January 30th from 7 – 9 pm EST.
Hank Shocklee along with dubstep producer FaltyDL will be showcasing Propellerhead’s Reason 6 software during the workshop. Without giving too much away, please head on over to dubspot’s blog which gives you all the info you will need plus video interviews of both Mr. Shocklee and FaltyDL.
I’m tuning in, are you? Ken_UF
